The special election for State Representative in the 197th district will be held on Tuesday, March 21. If there is a vacancy in the Pennsylvania General Assembly, a special election must be held to fill the vacant seat. The presiding officer in the house where the vacancy happened must call for an election. In the 197th District PA House Speaker Mike Turzai scheduled a special election for Tues., March 21 to fill the vacant seat left by disgraced state representative, Leslie Acosta, who resigned six months after confessing to a felony misdemeanor to commit money laundering.

Leslie Acosta was the Representative of District 197 for one and a half terms, from 2014 to 2017, beating Miranda who had lost the confidence of the constituency he defrauded. Leslie then secretly pleaded guilty to money laundering through a mental health facility, and stayed in office for almost a year before finally resigning.

Freddy Ramirez, an associate of Leslie Acosta who also runs mental health facilities in the district is also her choice to replace her. While his residency is in question, and rumors fly of his actually living in Bristol, PA, he is the hand picked choice of the same Democrats who offered the community the previous two who frauded them.
